Oops, I grow for grown-ups

LEADERSHIP

The story as we like to remember it started back in 2007 with a meeting between the two authors of this text. We met at an activity of Allegro, the alumni network of process-oriented learning programs in Flanders. In the conversation we brought the practice of process-oriented< /a>, experiential, relational learning< /strong>, which we had both experienced in a different learning group, in connection with the practice of open, gentle attention to what is happening here and now, which plays an important role in Mindfulness. This gave us the shared feeling of being on the eve of something 'new'. Something new in response to the question of how we, process supervisors, can help other people, professionals, on their way to maturity. 'Oops, I'm growing' for adults.

This article is based on our first experiences in 2008 and 2009 as supervisors of the mindful leadership program Vitruvius and In Vivo for middle and top managers of the Federal Government.

The program is already in its 16th edition in 2023 and has now guided almost 1,000 managers on their way to a sustainable, conscious and humane leadership.

The second article 'Mindfulness and experiential learning' by world authority David Kolb provides a theoretical framework for the link between mindfulness and experiential learning.
